How Did MGallery Begin?

MGallery's first chapter was written in 2008, when Accor launched it as the first boutique hotel collection of its kind, unveiled by then-CEO Gilles Pélisson on the vision that every place has a soul. Breaking with traditional hotel standards, MGallery offered a collection of intriguing hotels, each with a unique story to tell, inspired by its history, distinctive design, remarkable setting, or cultural vision. The first eight member hotels were drawn from Accor's existing Sofitel and Grand Hotel Mercure networks for their distinctive character, including the Baltimore in Paris, Le Royal in Lyon, the Rotary in Geneva, and the Grand Hotel in Melbourne. From that foundation, the label grew to more than 40 hotels in 23 countries by 2010. Today, the MGallery Hotel Collection brings together more than 120 luxury boutique hotels worldwide, from global capitals to off-the-beaten-path destinations, each a gallery of unexpected art, beauty, and stories.

Renowned designers and architects have shaped the collection, from MKV Design's work at the Athens Capital Center Hotel, blending Greek marble with contemporary street art, to studios inspired by Bartholdi's fascination with gigantism. MGallery's Signature M Moments

M Moments are unique experiences inspired by each destination, deeply rooted local discoveries rather than generic hotel activities. They might be a sacred mountain hike in Vietnam, a guided cellar visit in Champagne, a peek behind the curtains of Vienna's concert hall, a ceramic-craft session at DongFengYun in China inspired by the indigenous pottery traditions behind the hotel's curved walls, or a private sunset sail across the bay of Cagliari with aperitivos. The brand's mixology philosophy draws on local culture and flora, with theatrical, high-end creations and innovative low- and no-alcohol options. Most properties offer signature spa experiences using local techniques, and MGallery extends mindfulness to every guest with curated Mindful Walk maps and breathwork podcasts designed for morning, day, and evening, rituals that restore, with benefits that endure.

Booking Terms and Important Details

Accor HÉRA bookings through WhataHotel are made at Accor's best available flexible rate and include a $10.95 booking fee. As noted above, MGallery requires a 2-night minimum to receive HÉRA benefits. HÉRA is an invitation-only preferred-partner program that consumers cannot join directly; access comes exclusively through an accredited advisor such as WhataHotel, and you pay the same public rates while receiving elevated perks at no extra cost. The property credit ($50–$100 USD) varies by hotel with redemption conditions defined at check-in and cannot be applied to the room rate. Room upgrades are to the next category based on availability at check-in and are not pre-confirmed; early check-in and late checkout are also subject to availability, with HÉRA guests receiving priority consideration. Cancellation policies vary by property and rate type, so check your specific confirmation.
